Top 10 Football Stadiums in England I Have Visited

Granted this is going by my own personal experience and I have not visited all the football grounds in England. Been a Derby County fan i have travelled with my team all around the UK in both the Premiership and the Championship and have visited both some really impressive grounds and some absolute turd. To me its not just about the architecture of a Stadium and how big it is. Its attributes such as Atmosphere, The infrustructure around the ground and the view. Granted a lot of my opinions will be from the away ends of grounds. Im sure ill upset a few but hey, here go's,

1  City Of Manchester Stadium - Manchester City

One of the best looking stadiums in the country and I just love the way the roof curves and the spiral walkways. You are provided with a great view and good leg space and the atmosphere is electric, whilst not everyone will agree it is my favourite stadium I have visited.

 2. Wembley - National Football Stadium

Whilst it is the most expensive stadium on the planet and the arch and the attractable roof are really impressive, yes you are provided with amazing views especially in the top tear but it can feel uneasy and it takes time to adjust cause your that high up. Reasons Wembley didn't come 1st is because of how expensive it is and it does not feel like a football stadium when your in the concours, more like your at a airport and the acoustics are not that impressive.

3  St James Park - Newcastle United

One of the most passionate and loudest crowds I have been to plus plenty of good banter. Its a fairly unique stadium, it looks more like a baseball ground though the view from the away end is incredible if from the corner of the ground, will take you by surprise when you first go to your seat.

4  Old Trafford - Manchester United

Yes its a big stadium but per head has to be one of the quietest ground I have been to, the only reason it is ranked quite high because of the legend it contains and how many great players have played on the pitch plus some incredible matches, it has also been the cool thing to say I have been to Old Trafford, probably been more than 50 % of the so called Manchester United fans.

5  Villa Park  -  Aston Villa

Villa park is a good little stadium, well small compared to the others on the list, it feels like a proper footballing ground, if its not the most modern. It does nothing fancy though has great atmosphere though the away fans are placed in a shocking position but apart from that I have enjoyed my visits here.

6  Emirates  - Arsenal

Whilst Emirates aesthetically looks great, to me I just felt it lacked character compared to Highbury which was Arsenal's previous homes, it is also rather quiet with little leg room I found. Its just too fancy for my liking much like Wembley down the road with high class restaurants and is the most expensive stadium to buy a season ticket for. Just an example of how modernised the game is, though it is beautiful to look at, its like dating a hot girl with no personality.

7  Stadium Of Light - Sunderland

Much like St James Park up the road, The Stadium Of The Light has one of the best atmospheres I have ever been too, and is a great looking stadium. Though it is plonked in horrible surroundings. Inside you get a good view and is overall a great stadium.

8  Anfield - Liverpool

One of the most overated atmospheres, quite frankly can't stand Liverpool fans and there stadium is not much better to look at, much like Old Trafford its the vibe that surrounds the place and the history that surrounds Liverpool, if it wasn't that it would be way down the list

9  Reebok Stadium - Bolton

Such a unique and interesting stadium, you can get some sensational views and is a pretty decent atmosphere, if this was the home of a bigger team it would score higher but its Bolton, you get no brownie points for visiting the Reebok Stadium. The architecture is really impressive though especially in the top tier it is really steep and takes time to adjust to your surroundings, though overall cracking stadium.

10  Hillsborough

Will always have a place in my heart as one of the first grounds I went to when I was younger been from near the area and is just a classic traditional football ground which has an incredible amount of history, both good and bad. You also can't beat the catering facilities and its a good atmosphere, its a shame a lot of teams are getting new grounds with no personality at all.
